December 10, 2010
Dear Campbell Parents/Guardians,
In our efforts to keep you informed, I want to make you aware of a situation that happened on Friday, December 10. We had smoke coming from a vent into one classroom. The building was immediately evacuated through a normal fire drill procedure as a safeguard. Fire personnel and the County Maintenance all responded without delay.
Our regular maintenance required patching of the roof which caused smoke. The smoke was drawn into the air duct via the intake system which got into one of the classrooms. No students or staff members were hurt. We evacuated until the building was checked by emergency personnel and we were assured that it was safe to reenter.
As always, safety is paramount at our school and I want to assure you that every concern is taken seriously and immediately addressed. I thank you for trusting us with your student(s) and assure you that we are taking every effort to ensure a safe environment. Please do not hesitate to call me if you have any questions or concerns.
We have an outstanding school community here at Campbell Middle School and we believe that through open communication and strong support, we can effectively deal with situations like this one and then move forward. Thank you for all that you do to make Campbell Middle School an outstanding school.
Your continued support is greatly appreciated!
