We've successfully completed our first 9week period! Hip Hip Hooray! Many of my math students have risen to the challenge and are meeting the standards set here at CMS as well as in the classroom. They are working consistently to achieve the academic goals AND the behavioral goals. Other students require more time and attention so we will continue to our diligence.
CMS Math Night was October 15th. It was great to see such parent involvement. If you were unable to attend, I encourage you to get involved. You can set an apppointment to come and visit our school and classrooms so that you can get a feel for what we do here daily.
Our Hispanic Heritage Month observation was remarkable: with morning latin music; decorations throughout the building; announcements done in spanish; and Hispanic heritage activities across the curriculum in several classes . On October 13th we had a culminating fesiival that included presentations from the U.S. Embassies of Mexico, Guatemala and El Salvador, informational sessions and a fabulous FEAST. Many students and parents brought cultural dishes to indulge in. It was DELICIOUS! Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you to all the organizers and participants. Our next cultural celebration will be Black History Month during February!
As always, thank you for your support. With the best intentions...D. Harris
