Abstract:

The article presents discussion of the legal writing style of the U.S. Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan. Introductory comments are offered noting the unusually rapid speed at which Kagan has "found her stride" as an opinion writer on the court. An overview is provided of several of her official opinions, including Arizona Christian School Tuition Organization v. Winn and Arizona Free Enterprise Club v. Bennett. Commentary is given complimenting her narrative style and use of rhetoric in her writings. Contrasts are also offered with her contemporary colleagues on the court.
