The 8th grade writing test will occur on January 20, 2010. It is very important to arrive to school on timeto take the test on that day. This week we have been working on sharpening our writing skills by writing TWO essays- persuasive & expository. Both essays must have a completed rough draft by Monday in order to submit it to the online essay scorering program next Tuesday.

 Please remember to grab the reader's attention by beginning the first paragraph with an attention grabber. It is equally important to hold the reader's interest by employing the use of transitions and powerful words.  Please check the link above to review the key components of a persuasive essay.

Happy New Year! I am so excited about what the year 2010 will bring. It is time to get geared up for the State Writing Test that will be administered this month. We have been preparing for this assessment since the start of the school year by sharpening our writing skills. I believe that we will be ready 8th grade! We will perform well on the test!
