If you are absent due to an illness or school situation you may make up the missed day by handing in a sketch. These sketches will be counted towards your grade and should be worked on while you are away.
Here are different sketch book assignments Each one must be drawn in pencil. Pen will not be accepted. Your home workspace - Show us where you work and play at home. Draw this space from wherever you're sitting: on floor, up on bed, from ceiling looking down. A man-made object - Choose an interesting man-made object to draw. be creative! Trees - Create a study of the forms, shapes, lines and textures and colors of trees Treasures in the Trash - Draw objects in a trash can. Be sure to include the can and perhaps some of the space around the can. Plant - draw a plant with as much detail as possible using line contour and line variation. Self Portrait - Draw your self portrait. Work inspired by another artist - Create a drawing in the style of another artist or period of art Mechanical Object - Draw a mechanical object using labels, directions for operation, etc. The 3rd View - Draw an object of interest from 3 different views Motion People - Create a series of drawings of people in motion- playing sports; doing housework; etc. Try to overlap several views of the action as it progresses- use light sketchy lines; it will help. Furniture - draw a piece of furniture and use color to show the textures and shadows. Inside your closet - Drawing should contain one to three pieces of patterned cloth in it. Show color and patterns. The Jar's Half Empty/Full - Draw a large jar and fill it up with something (candy, toys, rock, etc) Your favorite piece of clothing - Share your favorite piece of clothing in a drawing. Make sure you display it creatively. Landscape - draw a landscape from observation. Remember to show foreground, middle ground, and background. Tatoo Design - design a tattoo for someone particular- a celebrity, teacher, etc. Something that holds something else - create a drawing of an object that holds something else. Look for the unusual.
