Week of October 22nd

This week in Earth science we are continuing to work on soil conservation.  In groups students are developing presentations on how to help a farmer conserve his soil.  On Thursday we will take our unit test on erosion and weathering.  The attached power point will help you to review.Download chapter_7_and_8_review.ppt .  At the end of the week will begin studying the layers of the earth.

Layers of Earth websites: http://mediatheek.thinkquest.nl/~ll125/en/struct.htm or http://volcano.und.nodak.edu/vwdocs/vwlessons/lessons/Earths_layers/Earths_layers1.html

In Life science we are studying the needs of living things.  We will also study the cell and complete microscope activities.  Attached is an helpful powerpoint on the parts of the cell. Download the_cell_and_its_organelles.ppt

In physical science this week were area studying elements, mixture and compounds.  We will also study the states of matter and Boyle's and Charles's laws.  A quiz may happen at the end of the week.  PowerPoints for this week: Download boyles_law_and_charless_law.ppt   and Download states_of_matter_powerpoint.ppt

In Life science we are looking at cycles in nature including the water cycle, carbon cycle and nitrogen cycle.  We take a test at the end of the week.

In Physical science we are studying chemical equations and states of matter.

Week of October 8th

This week in Earth science we are studying erosion.  Students will participate in a variety of lab activities and create mini books on agents of erosion.  Students will also learn how a river is formed.

This week in Life science we will complete an owl pellet dissection.  Take a unit test on ecology.  We will be working with interactive food webs and discuss energy flow.  We will visit the following web sites:
