Cells Intro

Hi students, we are finally into our new unit "cells". I am excited about the opportunity to share with you the core of all Life Science. We will have quite a bit of work so please don't get behind. I am attatching my power point, the directed reading handout from chapter 3 section 1. You should have completed the Section review questions on page 67 and written all key vocabulary in CORNELL NOTE FORMAT.

Students make sure you have copied into you IAN Table 1 on page 74. It should be the next page after you vocabulary for Cells: Chapter3, Section 1 (Cornell Note Format) and please study you vocabulary for you quiz 11/10.

Students are encouraged to review the notes given from today as resource to prepare for this weeks assessments.  Tuesday and Thursday of this week, students will be given a vocabulary quiz that covers page 60-75 in their text book.  Students need to be familiar and prepared to summarize the definitions as well as identify their relationships to cell parts or structures.  Please see power point.

Biome Book Project

Students are responsible for creating a "Biome Book" which is due on October 21, 2009.  Please see the attatched rubric.  The text book(chapter 20 pages 526-542) and www.worldbiome.com  and/or http://www.blueplanetbiomes.org/world_biomes.htm  and are resources to utlize for the project.  Students are given limited time within class to complete the project so please encourage students to complete projects at home.Download Biome Booklet Assignment

Unit 1: Ecology

Chapter 18: Vocabulary Terms and Section Reviews were due 9/21  (Vocabulary found on pages 480, 484, and 490; Section Review assignments are found on pages 483, 489 and 497.

 

Students who have completed the Section Reviews and Vocabulary Assignment will participate in computer lab 9/24; those who have not will have an opportunity to complete the assignment in lieu of a ZAP!

Students are expected to be prepared for a quiz on Section 18-1 9/25
