Tuesday, Jan 10 - Freewriting inn Journal about holiday break. Review Winter Break Packet due tomorrow. Homework: Winter Break Packet. Read 20-45 minutes in AR book on own ZPD. Quiz #1 due by 1/20/2012.

Wed., Jan 11 - Homework Due: Winter Break Packet. Worksheet "A Persuasive Paragraph" (page 35-36) given,. Instruction on "Going Green" method of writing. Practice writing persuasive paragraphs by adding the "green" to two given paragraphs on the worksheet. Re-writes are in student Writing Journals.  Color code using the "going green method." Students will share one aloud. Homework: Read 20-45 minutes in AR book on own ZPD. Quiz #1 due by 1/20/2012.

Thurs, Jan 12 - Share writing from yesterday. Practice on writing claim statements (pg 36) worksheet from yesterday). Write practice persuasive essay in Writing Journal using the claim statement given (worksheet pg. 36 B). Color code essay.  Homework: Read 20-45 minutes in AR book on own ZPD. Quiz #1 due by 1/20/2012.

Friday, Jan 13 - STAR Diagnostic Test. Diagnostic reports will be sent home with students next week for parent review.  Homework: Read 20-45 minutes in AR book on own ZPD. Quiz #1 due by 1/20/2012.

NOTE: Q2 Report Cards sent home with students FRIDAY for a parent signature.
